This is the most difficult question to answer because the cost depends on many factors. Each window may have different degrees of restoration needs which could include:
-Size and sash configuration
-Existing conditions of jamb, sashes, and casing trims
-Paint and stain finishes
-Glass type
-Weather-stripping
Without a condition assessment, it is difficult to price what it will take to free up stuck windows. Varying factors may include:
-Amount of existing caulks and paints
-Added fasteners (nails and screws)
-Broken or defective pulleys
-Broken ropes or chains
-Missing weights
-Level of window on structure
-Landscaping obstructions
A Certificate of Appropriateness (CA) is a permit to allow construction, demolition, or alteration of any structure or site that is located in a designated landmark district or is designated as a landmark site. A certificate of appropriateness does not replace a building permit, which must be obtained separately if required for your project.
A Certificate of Appropriateness must be obtained for work on all structures or sites in a Landmark district, including non-contributing structures, work that occurs on the rear of any structure, and major landscaping changes anywhere on the property.
One of many reasons could be responsible for denial. They may include:
-Changes in design, material, and appearance
-Not enough supporting documentation for proposal requiring a detailed condition assessment
